Types of men's jackets: bomber to trucker
Most casual jackets come from a handful of classic shapes. Knowing them makes it easier to pick one that works with what you already wear.
Bomber jacket
Short, zip-front, with ribbed cuffs and hem that gather at the waist. It came from flight jackets. It is relaxed and easy to wear over a T-shirt or hoodie.
Our bombers come in nylon (polyamide) with a zip, or cotton blends with a snap (popper) front.
Harrington jacket
A light, hip-length jacket with a short collar and a straight hem. It is neater than a bomber and works over a shirt. Our Harringtons have a funnel neck and a snap front.
Trucker and denim jacket
A button-front jacket with chest pockets, usually in denim. It is the most casual of the group and pairs with chinos rather than more denim. Our black and charcoal denim jackets list 100% cotton.
Racer and biker jacket
Racer jackets have a clean zip front and a short band collar. Biker jackets add an asymmetric zip or more hardware. Both are traditionally leather.
Our racers are faux leather or cotton blends, and the fleece biker jackets list 80% cotton and 20% polyester.
Field and safari jacket
Utility jackets with four front pockets. A field jacket is straight and practical; a safari jacket adds a belt at the waist. Both work as a light layer in spring and fall.
